John – As we close out small business week, I want to take a moment to celebrate a few of my favorite shops in my hometown.

First up, a family favorite:

Parker Garage

19420 Mainstreet

Parker, CO 80138

www.parkergarage.com

This restaurant’s been a little bit of everything over the years. The building was originally part of the Littleton Creamery factory. Since then it’s been a gas station, garage, feed store, an auction house and more. Today it’s one of our family’s favorite restaurants. Chef Duy Pham uses local, seasonal ingredients and the food is incredible. I’ve been bringing my kids here since we first discovered it, and they all love it!

Franktown Firearms

STE. 357

Franktown, CO 80116

More than a shooting range, Franktown Firearms offers onsite armorer services including mounting, repairs, and professional cleaning. If you’re looking for training, whether you’re just getting started or you’re a master at arms, they’ve got something for everyone. Memberships offer lots of extra perks. I've been a regular for years. I love the staff – and they’re practically in my backyard!

Of course I have to share my favorite ribs:

Big Jim’s Ribs

Longs Way & S Parker Rd

Parker, CO 80134

www.bigjimsribs.com

Former NFL player "Big Jim" Sullivan opened this truck in 1982. Today Big Jim’s is a local institution. From his iconic food truck, Big Jim serves up a taste of the South with pork ribs, brisket, chicken, sausage, and sides that will blow you away. Look at these ribs and you’ll know why I keep coming back!

Small businesses are the heart of the American economy, and too often the laws passed in Congress cutting big breaks for corporations end up hurting mom and pop shops like these.

I want every small business owner to know you can count on me to have your back in Congress, and my door will always be open for you.

Republican policies have been a DISASTER for small businesses, funneling massive tax breaks and subsidies to the biggest corporations and leaving smaller companies to fend for themselves.

I’m running for Congress to flip CO-04 and strengthen small and rural employers that keep our economy strong. If you’re in a position to pitch in, we could use your help.

And if you’re in the area, I hope you’ll stop by these shops and the many others that make our community what it is. I might just see you there!
