The time has come for Congress to fundamentally re-examine its priorities and start putting the interests of working people over the desires of millionaires, billionaires, and large corporations.
For too long, our nation's policies have catered to the wealthy elite at the expense of everyday Americans struggling to get by.
Consider these staggering facts:
The richest 1% hold $44 trillion in wealth, but avoid taxes by securing loans against assets without selling investments or triggering taxable gains. Wealth passed to heirs often remains entirely untaxed.
Despite record profits, some major corporations pay nothing at all in taxes. Many contribute less to federal taxes than they pay their CEOs.
Republicans are proposing tax cuts that would overwhelmingly benefit the ultra-wealthy, with the top 0.1% seeing an average cut exceeding $175,000.
Enough is enough. Tell Congress that it's time for a different approach – one that sides with working families, not billionaires and Big Business.
Congress must raise the corporate tax rate to ensure profitable companies pay their fair share.
A billionaire wealth tax should be implemented so that gains in asset value, not just income, are taxed appropriately. And strict measures must be put in place to crack down on tax dodging and offshoring of profits.
The vast majority of Americans support these reforms. According to polls, over two-thirds want to raise taxes on the wealthy and corporations. It's time for Congress to listen to the people, not wealthy donors and special interests.
