“We need serious leaders” … I can only assume what he actually means is that we need someone who isn’t a young woman – because really, it just doesn’t make sense any other way.
I’m a member of the House Armed Services Committee and House Foreign Affairs Committee, where I’m the Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Africa.
I’m a member of the Bipartisan Task Force on Artificial Intelligence. I’m Vice Chair of the Congressional Equality Caucus, Founding Co-Chair of the Protection of Civilians in Conflict Caucus, and Co-Chair of the Congressional Ghana Caucus.
Oh, and I’m the youngest member of our Democratic House leadership, too.
My background before serving in Congress includes policy work at the United Nations, UNICEF, and the State Department. And I founded two non-profits that are still doing impactful work for our community and the world.
But of course, to some people, you can’t be a young woman – especially one with interests and hobbies – and also be a serious leader! I call BS.
Look – I would love to brush this off and fully ignore every single word that comes out of my opponent’s mouth.
But unfortunately, he’s shown that he can raise enough money from fellow GOP extremists to run a serious campaign against me, and he’s going to spend every penny he can trying to flip our district red.
The rise of candidates like my opponent is directly connected to Donald Trump and his brand of MAGA politics that he’s made popular for so many people on the right – and the fact is, it’s not enough to eke out narrow victories when we’re dealing with this kind of extremism.
We need to deliver resounding Democratic victories this November – in my race and in races all across the country – and make a clear statement that this is not who we are.
To do that, Democrats have to boost our fundraising numbers. Will you help out by making a donation of $25, $50, or even $100 to my re-election campaign today? Your contribution will go directly towards defeating my MAGA opponent.
Thanks so much. I really appreciate your support!
