Today, as we commemorate International Firefighters Day, I am reminded of the countless brave men and women who put their lives on the line every day to protect our communities. And today, I’m also reflecting on my own journey as a firefighter and how that experience has shaped my commitment to public service.
Growing up in Orange County, my family instilled in me a deep sense of duty toward public service and community welfare. In fact, I come from a long line of first responders and military veterans, and I am a second-generation Fire Captain for the Orange County Fire Authority.

For 34 years, I had the honor of serving on the Orange County Fire Authority, responding to nearly every significant disaster our county faced. In those moments of crisis, I witnessed the strength and resilience of our community. I saw neighbors coming together to support one another, and I learned firsthand the importance of leadership and collaboration in times of adversity.

It is these lessons that I carry with me as I embark on a new journey, seeking to represent the people of the 40th District in Congress and tackle Washington’s biggest challenges.
