Fentanyl killed more than 100,000 Americans last year. That’s why as Chairman of the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee I increased the budget for the National Guard’s Counter Drug Program from the $100 million Biden requested to $300 million in FY2024. At hearing this week, I asked the National Guard how they will use the funding to address this crisis. We must take more aggressive steps against the cartels and Chinese to stop these deadly drugs from getting into our neighborhoods.

Earlier this week I met with members of the Peace Officers Research Association of California to discuss the issues impacting our law enforcement community. I have and will always work together with and support our law enforcement officers who put themselves in danger to keep our communities safe.

Yesterday, I joined my fellow Co-Chair of the California Aerospace Caucus, Rep. Ted Lieu (D-CA), in issuing the following statement:  

Happy National Space Day! For decades, space exploration and research has helped to set the United States apart as an industrial and scientific leader in innovation. The United States has long been on the forefront of the aerospace and aeronautic revolution, ushering in new technologies that have made life better and helped us understand more about ourselves and the universe we live in.  Our hope is that National Space Day is a reminder of the incredible accomplishments we’ve made in space exploration and research, and a source of inspiration for our future space trailblazers.
