Across the country, we’ve seen record unemployment claims as many Americans have been laid off or unable to work due to the COVID-19 pandemic. And with so many Americans losing their jobs, millions will also lose their health insurance benefits.

Thankfully, health officials in several states -- included here in California -- have announced plans to extend enrollment for health coverage. But given the gravity of the situation, a piecemeal approach is not enough:

John, it’s essential that the American people stay covered. Right now the risk of illness and hospitalization is skyrocketing, and the last thing people should have to worry about is whether they can afford to get the care they need.
