Friends,

Coronavirus has had a huge impact on so many people in America and around the world. For some of us, this has meant changes to our daily routines, including not getting to see friends and family as often. And while these changes are major disruptions to our way of life, many of our neighbors are dealing with more significant hardships. Millions of people have lost their jobs and may be unable to pay bills, make rent, and keep food on the table. And of course there are those who are suffering from, or have lost friends or family to coronavirus.

During a crisis like this, it’s critical that we come together to support each other. So, for those of us who are able, I’ve compiled a list of a few charities in our area that could really use some extra resources to help out all the folks impacted by coronavirus.

Please check them out, contribute if you’re able, and share with your community!

  • The Merrimack Valley Food Bank is one of four food banks in Massachusetts. They provide nutritious food and personal care items to food pantries, shelters, and meal programs. Click here to learn more and donate!

  • The Seven Hills Pediatric Center is a nursing community for children and young adults with complex medical issues and profound intellectual and physical disabilities. They are in desperate need of PPE supplies such as masks, gowns, gloves, bleach, disinfectants, etc. Should the COVID-19 virus get into this community it will be utterly devastating. Donate to their Emergency Response Fund here!

  • United Way of North Central Massachusetts, and the Merrimack Valley are working to help hourly workers impacted by coronavirus. They are looking for donations to their Emergency COVID-19 fund. Contribute here for the Merrimack Valley OR for North Central Massachusetts fund.

  • The Greater Lowell Community Foundation has established a GLCF COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund to support unanticipated needs of nonprofits and others serving our community during these uncertain times, including providing portable sinks, antibacterial supplies, technology supplies, lunch bags and as well as prepackaged food. Check it out and contribute!

  • The Essex County Community Foundation is also starting a ECCF COVID-19 Response Fund to provide financial resources to nonprofit organizations working with communities that are disproportionately impacted by COVID-19 and the economic consequences of the outbreak. Learn more or support their Response Fund here!

  • MA COVID-19 Relief Fund - This Fund has been established to support essential frontline workers and vulnerable populations across the state, including those facing homelessness, food insecurity, and loss of critical services as a result of the COVID-19 public health crisis. Donations raised through the Fund will be distributed in partnership with the state’s community foundations that cover counties statewide and other critical non-profits, ensuring that Massachusetts communities can benefit from access to this much-needed pool of resources. You can support their efforts here.

Let’s all continue to do our part to reduce the impact of coronavirus. Contribute to charities if you can, practice social distancing as much as possible, and remember to wash your hands often.

Thanks, Team. Together, I know we can get through this.

Stay healthy,

Lori
