Last month, I unveiled my proposed budget for the upcoming fiscal year — and I want to share some highlights with you.

One of my top priorities as Governor is to ensure the next generation of North Carolina’s leaders can receive a top-tier education right here in our public schools, just like I did.

That’s why our budget proposal gives public school teachers an 8.5% raise — elevating starting salaries to the highest in the Southeast. Teachers shouldn’t be forced into working extra jobs just to pay bills.

We’ll also invest over $1 billion in funding public schools and $745 million to strengthen early childhood education and childcare programs.

Republicans would rather take taxpayer money from the public schools and give it to the wealthy through private school vouchers. Instead, they should use those funds to give public school teachers the 8.5% raise I requested.

John, our budget sets all North Carolinians up for success! I have urged Republicans in Raleigh to support it, but they need to hear from you too.
