Hi, it’s Jenny, Finance Director for Tim Kaine.

Before we get too far into May, I want to report back on our team’s fundraising performance in April. But first, I want to emphasize how grateful our whole team is for all the support you showed Tim last month (and every month).

Thank you!! 

Now, to the fundraising report: Unfortunately, we missed our goal last month — and frankly, it wasn’t by a small margin. For whatever reason, online contributions were down by more than 25% in April compared to March.

We also learned that overall donations to Democratic candidates and campaigns are down this year compared to the same time in 2020. Take a look at the chart below from ActBlue detailing their total donations processed: 

Look, I know there’s a lot going on in the world (and in our lives!), and the number of asks out there can be overwhelming. But with Trump and Senate Republicans working to ban abortion, threaten democracy, and advance the MAGA agenda, we have to fight even harder than in 2020 to deliver victories for Democrats. 

If you’ve already donated, I want to thank you so much for your commitment to this work. But if you didn’t (or if you feel moved to donate again), we could really use your support. The fact is, we can’t do this without you.

I know it’s a lot to ask, but grassroots support is a critical part of campaigning in the modern era — especially for Democrats. And I think that’s a good thing! I’d rather have our elected officials be accountable to YOU than to special interests or dark money PACs. 

So thank you for your support — now let’s go win this thing in November.
