An upcoming County Solid Waste project commencing next week may affect the roads leading to the Airport. Due to the closure of the Mountlake Terrace Transfer Station May 6 to May 26, 2024, for major repairs to the tipping floor, customers will be redirected to use the Airport Transfer Station (ARTS) off Minuteman Drive and the North Transfer Station in Arlington. Since Mountlake Terrace is one of the busiest transfer stations and ARTS is the next closest, we expect a substantial impact on traffic during its daily operating hours of 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
All vehicles heading to ARTS will enter via Airport Road and then proceed southwest on Minuteman Drive. If traffic backs up on Minuteman Drive, it will be directed towards Airport Road leading to the transfer station, not East Perimeter Road. Travelers may experience significant levels of traffic on Airport Road and are encouraged to seek alternate routes to access the airport.
It?s time again for the spring hangar cleanup! Dumpsters will be available May 3-13 on the central, east, and west ramps. Please use the dumpsters for airfield hangar cleaning ONLY.
Paine Field provides this service as a courtesy. Please do not place the event in jeopardy by disposing of prohibited items or items from off airfield. If you are caught disposing of prohibited items or bringing items from off airfield, you will be asked to remove those items from the dumpster.
Please call Airport Operations at 425-388-5125 if you have any questions.
Attention all airport badge holders: please be vigilant against piggybacking at any gate. Piggybacking is when a person follows an authorized person through a gate or door, exploiting politeness to bypass security measures. This poses a serious security risk as it allows unauthorized individuals entry into restricted areas. Ensure gates and doors are securely closed behind you and report any instances of piggybacking to Operations at 425-388-5125. Your cooperation is essential in maintaining the security of the airfield.

Paine Field Fire personnel share insights at national conference
Fire personnel from Paine Field, including Fire Chief Joshua Cole and Captain Tony Mace, recently showcased their expertise at the Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) Working Group Leadership Conference held in Florida. This conference serves as a platform for advancing the science and practices of aviation fire protection and prevention.
Chief Cole?s presentation delved into the intricacies of effective leadership within the fire service. Drawing from his extensive 30-year career, he engaged attendees in an insightful discussion on the core attributes of successful leaders, methods for identifying leadership potential within a department, and the indispensable skills and qualities that define a proficient leader.
In addition, Captain Mace provided a comprehensive overview of the Paine Field Fire Department?s ongoing quarterly airside exercises. Launched in 2004, these exercises are designed to enhance the capabilities of various agencies including mutual aid Fire and Law Enforcement teams, private ambulance companies, and dispatch agencies. The primary objectives encompass training participants on airfield access procedures, fostering familiarity with the airport layout and different aircraft, refining communication protocols, and fostering collaborative partnerships among stakeholders.
The commitment to conducting these quarterly exercises with external agencies underscores Paine Field's dedication to ensuring optimal preparedness, seamless coordination, and effective emergency response capabilities across multiple fronts.
Paine Field Fire Station tours
