The Roundup is a weekly production of the Tarrant County GOP to bring you the latest headlines on conservative victories, upcoming events, and opportunities to make a difference in Tarrant County. Radical Democrats are suing us. CLICK HERE to DONATE TODAY   Ft. Worth DEI Connection to Biden Last week we dug into the City of Fort Worth's DEI Department, talking about Christina Brooks, the Pete Buttigieg associate who makes more money than Governor Abbott to push radical gender and racial ideology. Would it surprise you that her employees are just as bad? Angela Rush is the Assistant DEI Director, under Christina Brooks. Unfortunately for her, she doesn't quite make as much as the Governor of Texas, unlike her boss. Instead, she makes $147,059 of your tax dollars - putting her slightly below the Chief Executive of our State. What does she do to earn that salary (which is twice the median household income in Tarrant County)? Do you remember the "Movies that Matter" program run by the city, that shows films advocating radical gender ideology, and encourages City employees to become "Diversity Champions?" You can thank Ms. Rush for that - she helped develop it! She is the staff liaison to the "Fort Worth Human Relations Commission" which approved the propaganda program and works with the LGBTQ Standing Committee. What does Angela do outside of her work helping the City push radical leftist programs and anti-white discrimination? She is the Treasurer of the "International Association of Official Human Rights Agencies (IAOHRA)" Long name, I know. You might ask, what does this long-titled and obscurely-named organization do, with the help of Fort Worth Assistant DEI Director Angela Rush? To give you an idea, they had the infamous "Dr. Rachel (Richard) Levine" speak at their conference. Sidenote - what is it with Fort Worth officials and Biden appointees? The organization's 2023 annual conference also included Biden's Senior Gender Policy Advisor and the Executive Director of "Trans Maryland" (aptly named) which works very hard to transition children. City of Fort Worth Trans Clinics We continued digging into the leftist takeover of the City of Fort Worth. It turns out, the City is deeply invested in radical transgender ideology - even for children. On the City's website, they advertise companies for employee health benefits. One of these is a company called "Talkspace." Talkspace is a therapy company that advertises "LGBTQIA+ Therapy." When you go to that page, they advertise therapy for kids 13 and up who are "exploring questions of gender identity." So, the City of Fort Worth is encouraging employees to use a service that works to transition 13 year-old children? The rot is much, much deeper than we thought. Another service, Brightline, found on the same employee benefits page, advertises services focusing on "children ages six and up" and their "LGBTQ+ and BIPOC identities." Yes, this service - which has a contract with the California government (if that tells you anything) - is actively promoting the gender transition of SIX-YEAR-OLD children. In case that wasn't enough, they have articles on their website to help parents discuss sex and "racial justice" with minors. This is a service, again, advertised by the City of Fort Worth to its employees. Every time we dig into the City of Fort Worth, it gets worse. Ft. Worth "Defund the Police" Department Are you familiar with the Office of the Police Oversight Monitor (OPOM)? It's Fort Worth's attempt to rein in the police in response to the leftist "Defund the Police" movement. Let's dig into it. The department is run by a woman named Bonycle Sokunbi, who makes $190,008 per year of your tax dollars - another official making substantially more than Governor Abbott! She came to the City of Fort Worth after managing New Orleans' "Defund the Police Office" - a city known for being crime-free, right? The OPOM resource page on the City of Fort Worth website encourages people to check out the ACLU. Yes, the same ACLU that has sued and is currently suing the State of Texas and Attorney General Ken Paxton for attempting to close the border, protect kids from genital mutilation, and protect children from pornography online. And the City of Fort Worth is openly promoting these people! Another resource advertised on the City's OPOM website is NACOLE, the National Association of Civilian Oversight of Law Enforcement. Before Ms. Sokunbi took a lucrative offer mooching off your tax dollars, she attended the 2022 NACOLE Conference which was hosted here in Fort Worth, where the event was welcomed by Mayor Mattie Parker. What did our OPOM Director - and Mayor Mattie Parker - do at this conference? Well, the keynote speaker was George Gascon, the Soros-funded DA notorious for making Los Angeles a crime-ridden battleground. The conference also held seminars on "gender-responsive" corrections, as well as "Addressing White Supremacy and Extremism" in Law Enforcement. The White Supremacy session was given by the Chief of Staff of the SPLC, by the way. She accused law enforcement of white supremacy and...you guessed it, causing "the January 6th Insurrection." Welcoming Remarks for this event were given by City Manager David Cooke as well as other city employees. Mayor Mattie Parker gave a lengthy and warm invitation to the event. HD97 Debate + Local Elections Today   This week we hosted our second TCGOP-sponsored Republican Runoff Debate, this time between Cheryl Bean and John McQueeney, candidates for House District 97 to replace Rep. Craig Goldman. The debate was well-attended just as our previous debate with Craig Goldman and John O'Shea to replace Kay Granger for Congressional District 12. The runoffs are May 28th, be sure to vote! On the topic of voting, the final day to vote in local elections is TODAY! Be sure to get out and vote. You can find our Chairman's endorsements here. The Democrats are working hard to elect radical left candidates for the Tarrant County Appraisal District seats, and we must stop them.   Red Goose Saloon You may have heard of a place in downtown Fort Worth called Red Goose Saloon. It made headlines recently for continually hosting drag shows with children present. It should be noted that the bill passed by the Legislature to keep children from drag shows has been held up by the ACLU - the same group that the City of Fort Worth publicly advertises. However, municipalities do have the right to regulate businesses, especially sexually-oriented ones. Local Government Code Section 243 allows cities to regulate sexually oriented performances in the presence of children. Yet another instance of the City of Fort Worth allowing or actively supporting radical left policies that harm our city and harm children. It is curious that not only has the City done nothing about this, but doesn't even seem to be concerned.
