Don't miss our [3] World Press Freedom Dayside event today at 9am CLT / 1pm GMT!

For World Press Freedom Day 2024, Media Defence has organised a side event at the UNESCO Global Conference in Santiago, Chile. The discussion will focus on the renewed threats to freedom of expression posed by advancements in surveillance and profiling.

The session will address how this is playing out in Latin America, where both democratic and authoritarian governments have a history of controlling public discourse through surveillance of journalists and critics with impunity.

Join us as we unpack these challenges and explore the legal strategies that can be used to seek accountability.

📍 Location: Room 2, Centro Cultural Gabriela Mistral, Santiago, Chile or Online.
