John,
As we approach the beginning of the Passover holiday, I
want to wish all of our Jewish members and their families a “chag sameach –
happy holiday.”
In the midst of trying to get important information out to
all of our members, we made the mistake of scheduling a COVID-19 teletownhall
tonight, the night of the first seder.
I apologize deeply for that
mistake. By the time we realized the time conflict, it was too
late to reschedule. The story of the Jewish People’s exodus from slavery,
the seder ritual that asks participants each year to imagine that they
themselves experienced the delivery from slavery unto freedom, has been an
inspiration for generations of Jewish people to engage in every kind of
progressive social action. It is a holiday that affirms so many of AFGE’s
core values. I can promise you that we will not make a mistake like this
again.
For those of you who miss the call tonight because you are
celebrating Passover, please feel free to contact my office and I will put you
in touch with a staff member who will provide you a full briefing on the
material covered on the call. Take care and be safe.
Sincerely,
Dr. Everett Kelley
AFGE National President
