Happy Friday! I hope that everyone is enjoying the warm weather across the Second District. While I have been away in Washington, D.C. this week, I appreciated the many wonderful birthday wishes from home. I'm grateful for another year serving our communities.

National Small Business Week 

Last year, Illinois entrepreneurs applied to start an impressive 174,667 new businesses in Illinois. For National Small Business Week, I celebrated our state's small businesses which serve as the heart of our communities and the engine of our economy.  

RLC Leaders Discuss Justice40 Initiative 

My Regional Leadership Council colleagues and I met with Policy Link and Emerald Cities Collaborative to discuss how House Democrats can continue advancing equity through President Biden's Justice40 Initiative. This initiative will ensure that 40 percent of the overall benefits of federal climate, clean energy, affordable and sustainable housing, and other investments flow to disadvantaged communities marginalized by underinvestment and overburdened by pollution.
