The economic impact of small businesses in Central Washington cannot be overstated, and we should be doing all we can to ensure Main Street has an economy that allows them to be successful. It is no secret that after the pandemic, the Biden Administration spent tens of trillions of dollars on initiatives that drove inflation up and punished small businesses through tax and interest rate hikes. In order to counter the administration’s anti-Main Street policies, I was proud to support the Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act to extend pro-growth policies, revive conservative tax reform, and provide tax relief to Americans struggling with inflation. Our small business owners deserve an economy that fosters their entrepreneurial spirit instead of one that penalizes them for innovatively competing in the market. Read More on My Website Encouraging Job Creation in Central Washington On Saturday, April 27th, I hosted my 2024 Central Washington Jobs Fair in Yakima. We were able to bring together over twenty different vendors who were all seeking new employees, and attendees had the opportunity to bring resumes and connect with potential employers. Like in years past, the 2024 Jobs Fair was a huge success. I want to thank all participants of the event, and I am looking forward to hosting again next year. Fighting Illegal Federal Government Land Grabs This week, I spoke on the House Floor in support of H.R. 3397—the Western Economic Security Today Act. Since day one in office, President Biden has consistently waged war on our Western way of life, and his most recent attack is the recent Bureau of Land Management Conservation and Landscape Health rule. This rule locks up America's lands, threatens production of our abundance of domestic natural resources, and restricts access to our public lands. Responsible public land management is a critical issue for farmers, businesses, and landowners in our region, and it is Congress’ duty to ensure that public land management promotes economic development—not burdensome regulations and red tape. That’s why I am fighting to prevent federal land grabs, keep out-of-touch government bureaucrats and radical environmentalists from fencing off our public lands, and promoting the management and conservation of our natural resources for generations to come. Recently, America's university campuses have seen a highly disturbing rise in antisemitism and support of known terror group, Hamas. Unfortunately, many of our institutions of higher learning are complacent in policing this vile behavior, putting Jewish students in harms way and disregarding hate speech policies. Congress has a responsibility to support our Jewish students, which is why this week we PASSED H.R. 6090, the Antisemitism Awareness Act. This legislation combats the rise of antisemitic discrimination in K-12 schools, colleges, and universities by classifying discrimination against Jewish people as a potential violation of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. I will continue to stand strong against Hamas and support Israel in such an important time. Recognizing Yakima Valley Medal of Honor Recipients Congratulations to Sgt.
