We are continuing our campaign to flip the Senate because it is critical to the future of our nation. This pandemic highlights the need for better leadership. Please care for yourself and your loved ones first. If you have some extra bucks, please help a friend in need. We ask those of you with adequate financial resources to invest in our campaign for those who can’t afford to do so during this crisis. Please stay well, friends. Kg
John,

Yesterday, Wisconsinites faced a horrific choice: head to the polls and exercise their right to vote, or risk catching or spreading a plague. It did not have to be this way. The primary election should have been delayed or held by mail.

Stunningly, a state supreme court judge overruled the state governor’s executive order to postpone the primary. Later that same day, the United States Supreme Court dealt a devastating blow to Wisconsinites and our electoral system.

In a 5-4 party-line decision, the court ruled the state could not accept absentee ballots that are postmarked after Tuesday, April 7, the primary election day. The problem? Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the state was overwhelmed with requests for absentee ballots, and they haven’t delivered them all to voters expecting them.

This means any Wisconsinite who followed the rules to request a ballot but did not receive it by today loses their right to vote.

John, this is an appalling violation of the right to vote. We must encourage voter participation, not stifle it. We must adapt our way of life, including how we conduct elections, to the COVID-19 reality.

You know why we have the Supreme Court we have now, right? Because Iowa’s Senator Chuck Grassley refused to allow President Obama’s pick for the Supreme Court, Merrick Garland, to even have a hearing before the judicial committee. He got away with that because Mitch McConnel is our Senate Majority Leader.

So how do we change this? Flip the Senate.

We must take our democracy back.

We start by flipping the Senate.

Can you pitch in today and help me flip the Senate? ([link removed])
Conservative courts on the state and federal level are using this coronavirus outbreak to continue their attacks on voters’ rights. That’s why it’s so important we elect Senators who will fairly evaluate judges and only vote to confirm those with a record that reinforces civil rights and workers’ rights.

When I’m the junior U.S. Senator from Iowa, you better believe I’ll fight for a Supreme Court that believes the right to vote is fundamental and should never be eroded.

Chip in today and let’s take back our democracy! ([link removed])
