Donald Trump just did an interview with TIME Magazine laying out exactly what his second presidential term would look like (it’s bleak).
“[Trump] would let red states monitor women’s pregnancies and prosecute those who violate abortion bans… he declines to commit to vetoing any additional federal [abortion] restrictions if they came to his desk.”
Trump campaigned on a promise to overturn Roe v. Wade, then proudly claimed credit when his hand-picked Supreme Court Justices did exactly that.
A second term would all but guarantee anti-choice extremists can finish what they started and fully ban abortion nationwide. Millions of Americans would suffer the consequences.
Dozens of states have enacted harsh anti-abortion laws since the Dobbs decision. Just this week, two GOP-led states took their attacks on reproductive freedom even further: Louisiana began considering a bill that would criminalize the possession of abortion medication, and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed into law a 6-week abortion ban.
And all of this comes on the tails of last month’s decision from the Arizona Supreme Court to uphold a near-total abortion ban from 1864.
Under another Trump presidency, we can only expect to see even more of these outrageous attacks. We can’t let that happen.
