Friend,

The rampant anti-Semitism on college campuses is abhorrent. As a former journalist, I believe in protecting free speech, including speech I strongly disagree with, but I don't believe in protecting hate speech. Illegal encampments on school property, calling for the genocide of Jewish people, blocking Jewish students from going to class, holding facility workers hostage, and breaking into school buildings is not protected speech.

Many "so-called" elite universities have failed to protect Jewish students, allowing violent rioters to take over campus. I can’t fathom why university leaders are so spineless in their refusal to condemn anti-Semitism, shut down these violent mobs, and punish those who are breaking the law. History will not be kind to those who are silent, or worse, or to some of my far-left colleagues who are egging these rioters on and cheering their anti-Semitic rhetoric.

Never Again is right now. We must show moral clarity and leadership.

  • This week, I was proud to join House Republicans in passing the Anti-Semitism Awareness Act. This bill requires the Department of Education to adopt the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance's definition of anti-Semitism.
  • We must pull federal funding from schools that have failed to protect Jewish students.
  • I also support revoking visas of foreign students who are supporting Hamas, threatening Jewish students, violating school policy, or breaking the law. Studying in the U.S. is a privilege, not a right.

Enough is enough. There is no gray area here – only right or wrong. I will continue to stand with the Jewish community, hold universities accountable for failing to protect students, and work to defeat anti-Semitism.

Best,

Appropriations Hearing Highlights

As a Member of the House Appropriations Committee, I am watching your taxpayer dollars like a hawk. This week, I participated in four House Committee on Appropriations hearings to scrutinize the Biden Administration's budget request. We must cut wasteful spending while investing in Iowa's priorities.

  • Watch my questioning on China's efforts to smuggle illegal fentanyl across the Southern Border with CBP Acting Commissioner Troy Miller here.

  • Watch my questioning on combating cyber threats from China here.

  • Watch my questioning on U.S. Coast Guard investments in the Upper Mississippi River here.

  • Watch my questioning on how we can ensure Iowa farmers and biofuel producers are able to seize new opportunities in the sustainable aviation fuel market here.

Celebrating Small Business Week

This week is National Small Business Week! For small business owners, it’s not just about a bottom line – it’s about putting in the hard work to make a dream become reality, contributing to the community, and turning customers into family.

Small businesses are the backbone of our communities and I will continue to support legislation, including the bipartisan Main Street Tax Certainty Act, to make key small business tax cuts for permanent.

NTCA – The Rural Broadband Association

It was great to meet with Iowa members of NTCA this week! We discussed the importance of the ReConnect program and ways we can expand rural broadband access and connectivity.

Investments in IA-02: Securing Funding for Gundersen-Palmer Lutheran Hospital

As a Member of the House Appropriations Committee, I am proud to have secured targeted federal investments for Iowa. Cutting wasteful spending while returning taxpayer dollars to our communities will always be a top priority for me!

This week, I'm excited to highlight the $1,100,000 that I secured for the Gundersen-Palmer Lutheran Hospital. This expansion will improve access to maternal care for expecting women and their babies. I will continue working to expand access to high-quality maternal health care!
