Friend,
The rampant anti-Semitism on college campuses is abhorrent. As a former journalist, I believe in protecting free speech, including speech I strongly disagree with, but I don't believe in protecting hate speech. Illegal encampments on school property, calling for the genocide of Jewish people, blocking Jewish students from going to class, holding facility workers hostage, and breaking into school buildings is not protected speech.
Many "so-called" elite universities have failed to protect Jewish students, allowing violent rioters to take over campus. I can’t fathom why university leaders are so spineless in their refusal to condemn anti-Semitism, shut down these violent mobs, and punish those who are breaking the law. History will not be kind to those who are silent, or worse, or to some of my far-left colleagues who are egging these rioters on and cheering their anti-Semitic rhetoric.
Never Again is right now. We must show moral clarity and leadership.
- This week, I was proud to join House Republicans in passing the Anti-Semitism Awareness Act. This bill requires the Department of Education to adopt the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance's definition of anti-Semitism.
- We must pull federal funding from schools that have failed to protect Jewish students.
- I also support revoking visas of foreign students who are supporting Hamas, threatening Jewish students, violating school policy, or breaking the law. Studying in the U.S. is a privilege, not a right.
Enough is enough. There is no gray area here – only right or wrong. I will continue to stand with the Jewish community, hold universities accountable for failing to protect students, and work to defeat anti-Semitism.
