John,

In 1776, our Declaration of Independence affirmed that all humans are endowed with certain "inalienable" rights. Among those are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of happiness.

But Americans should not have to put their lives - or the lives of their loved ones - at risk in order to cast their ballot.

Unfortunately, that is the choice that too many voters in Wisconsin were forced to make yesterday.

On Monday night, conservative justices on the U.S. Supreme Court sided with Republican elected officials in Wisconsin and refused to simply allow voters more time to send in their mail-in ballots.

It didn't have to be this way. We know that this decision will keep tens of thousands of Wisconsin voters from having their voices heard in this consequential election.

Let's be clear: any elected officials who believe that they will lose simply by allowing more people to vote are in the wrong line of work. Sign this petition today to say that today, more than ever, we need to do everything we can to expand voting in our country.

Our Constitution was far from perfect when it was written over 230 years ago. But, in the centuries since, generations of Americans have struggled to make it better and more inclusive. They have fought for a "more perfect Union."

We can't move backwards now. Especially during this unprecedented pandemic, we should be doing everything we possibly can to make it easier - not harder - for Americans to vote.

Thank you for keeping up this fight,

Tom
