Hi John,
These are confusing times -- and with the 2020 primary and general election right around the corner, I know many Pennsylvanians are worried about how they’ll do their part and vote.
If you’re one of those citizens concerned about voting, I’ve got good news for you: for the first time, Pennsylvania voters can now vote-by-mail without giving reason for needing an absentee ballot.
My team and I just sat down to fill out our vote-by-mail application. It was simple and quick -- and we wanted to make sure you were all set to vote, too.
At the webpage, you’ll be asked why you’re requesting an absentee ballot. You’ll see three options:
-
Are you a military or overseas voter?
-
Will you be absent from your home on the date of the election?
-
Do you have an illness or physical disability?
If you answer "yes" to any of those questions, you’ll need an absentee ballot, but if you answer "no" to all three questions, you’ll be redirected to apply for a mail-in ballot.
Once you’ve provided your name, date of birth, PennDOT ID number, address, and where you’d like your ballot mailed, you’ll then be asked if you would like to receive mail-in ballot applications annually. (Please note: you are not automatically set to receive your ballot. You will have to fill out the application each year to be sent a ballot.)
I highly recommend that you apply for the mail-in ballot considering the current pandemic. Voting by mail is the safest way you can ensure your voice is heard this November, so please, get your application in before the May 26 5 p.m. deadline.
And John, feel free to forward this email to family or friends who might find the information useful.
I hope you and your loved ones are doing well -- you’re all in my constant thoughts.
Talk soon,
Mary Gay
P.S. We’re launching voter outreach initiatives to ensure our constituents in the Fifth District know how to vote-by-mail in the coming months. If you’d like to support our initiative, please pitch in what you can at the button below. Thanks in advance!
