Friend,
Almost 2 years after the overturning of Roe v. Wade, we are still grappling with the consequences. Women are fleeing their states to receive healthcare and courts nationwide continue to uphold incredibly restrictive abortion bans. And on top of all of this, Florida’s six-week abortion ban goes into effect this week, leaving vulnerable people in the South with even less options to receive care.
Experts warned that state courts would continue limiting abortion access in the aftermath of the Dobbs decision in 2022, and that is exactly what is happening in Florida right now. People who are in desperate need of reproductive care will have nowhere to turn, and this is due to the dark money conservative capture of our judicial system.
The corruption of the Supreme Court led to the overturn of Roe v. Wade. After crippling our campaign finance system and steadily eroding voting rights, extremists and mega-donors like Leonard Leo and the Koch Network finally chipped away at one of our most fundamental rights: the right to choose. Restricting abortion access puts people in dangerous situations and if Florida voters do not vote to protect abortion in November, even more people will be put in harm's way.
