Legislative Update

Today I had the opportunity to host a delegation of congressional members to witness firsthand the impact of gray wolves on the local agriculture community. The visit shed light on the challenges faced by farmers due to the increasing gray wolf population. The delegation toured the farm and observe the effects of these predators on livestock.

Farmers are the backbone of our community, and it?s crucial that we address the issues they face,? said Representative Nelson. ?This visit will provide my colleagues with a firsthand understanding of the damage caused by gray wolves, and I hope it will lead to an effective solution to delist the gray wolf. This underscores our commitment to finding a sustainable solution that respects the ecosystem while ensuring the continued success of local farming.

Unfortunately, back on the house floor this week Democrats continue to push their radical agenda through the final days of this legislative session. All week we?ve been on the house floor late into the evening and even past midnight. I would expect that trend to continue tonight and next week as legislation continues to pile up on the calendar for the day. After being set on the table for much of the week the majority brought forward three of their gun bills last night.

The firearm storage mandate, and another on mandatory lost & stolen firearm reporting. These bills seek to criminalize law-abiding gun owners and limit Minnesotans access to self-defense in the unfortunate event they need it. The legislature needs to be focused on holding criminals accountable, not infringing on our second amendment rights.
