Rep. Troy E. Nehls Calls on Joe Biden to Suspend His TikTok Account Greetings! I wanted to take a moment to share with you a recap on what happened last week in Texas' 22nd District and the United States House of Representatives. This Week in Washington, D.C. Rep. Troy E. Nehls and Sen. Joni Ernst Call on President Biden to Suspend His Use of TikTok Last week, President Joe Biden signed into law H.R. 815, legislation that formalizes what we've known for a long time: TikTok is a national security threat posed by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Specifically, this bill will force TikTok's Chinese parent company to divest from its U.S. operations or face a nationwide ban. Despite having signed this bill into law, President Joe Biden's presidential campaign continues using TikTok, blatantly ignoring the grave concerns his administration's officials have raised. In fact, Rob Flaherty, President Biden's campaign’s deputy manager, defended the campaign’s decision to keep using TikTok, saying, "We would be silly to write off any place where people are getting information about the president." The Biden Administration is clearly prioritizing politics over protecting national security. That’s why I led a letter with Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA) calling on President Biden to suspend the use of his campaign until it is out of CCP hands. TikTok is a national security threat, and the President of the United States of America should set an example for the American people who use TikTok by suspending the use of the application until it is safe to use. Nehls Joins Rep. Greg Murphy in... WASHINGTON, D.C. -Congressman Troy E. Nehls (R-TX-22) joined Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D. Read more nehls.house.gov I joined Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D. (R-NC-03) in reintroducing legislation to permanently extend telehealth services for Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) and Rural Health Clinics (RHCs). On December 31, 2024, Medicare telehealth flexibilities for FQHCs and RCHs, which were previously extended by Congress under the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023, are set to expire. This legislation would ensure the telehealth services for FQHCs and RCHs do not expire and remain available for Americans across the country, especially those that reside in rural and medically underserved communities and rely on telehealth services to receive care. I'm proud to join my colleagues to make the extension of telehealth services permanent for FQHCs and RHCs to continue providing immediate and increased access to essential healthcare services for millions of American patients nationwide. Nehls Speaks on the Recruit and Retain Act Introduced by Congressman Wesley Hunt (R-TX-38) and Congressman Glenn Ivey (D-MD-04), the Recruit and Retain Act would support the efforts of law enforcement agencies that are experiencing declines in officer recruitment. During a House Judiciary Committee markup this week, I had the opportunity to speak in support of this legislation. Our nation's law enforcement is under attack. Police agencies have been defunded by the radical Left, recruitment is down, assaults against law enforcement are up and cities across the country are burning. Just this week, four law enforcement officers were fatally shot in Charlotte, North Carolina. I'm proud to fully support the Recruit and Retain Act, which passed out of the House Judiciary Committee this week, to ensure our nation's law enforcement officers get the support they deserve. Nehls and Jimmy Panetta Lead FY25 CJS... and Congressman Jimmy Panetta (D-CA-19) led a bipartisan letter with 18 Members of Congress encouraging Chairman Hal Rogers (R-KY) and Ranking Member Matt Cartwright (D-PA) of the Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies (CJS)... Read more nehls.house.gov This week, Congressman Jimmy Panetta (D-CA-19) and I sent a bipartisan letter, along with 18 other members of Congress, encouraging Chairman Hal Rogers (R-KY) and Ranking Member Matt Cartwright (D-PA) of the Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies (CJS) Appropriations Subcommittee to continue robust funding to provide the Protecting Our Lives by Initiating COPS Expansion (POLICE) Act of 2016 within the Fiscal Year (FY) 2025 CJS Appropriations bill. The POLICE Act provides hands-on, scenario-based, and integrated active shooter response training for local law enforcement and first responders, including emergency medical service (EMS) and firefighters. To date, more than 146,000 first responders across the nation have been trained to respond to active attack situations through the POLICE Act. Training is delivered year-round in communities across the nation at no cost to the participating law enforcement, fire, and EMS jurisdictions through this program. With the increase in crime and over 9.2 million illegal aliens having crossed our nation’s borders with Joe Biden in the White House, our nation’s first responders, and law enforcement officers need to be prepared to face any situation while protecting and defending our communities from the lawlessness of the policies of the radical Left. We must do everything to ensure our nation's law enforcement and first responders are fully equipped to face the challenge of any active shooter situation. Read the letter HERE. Rep. Troy E.
