While I was in Washington this week, my heart remained in Southeast Oklahoma with those who lost everything in the wake of Saturday's storms. I'm glad to announce that President Biden has approved our request for Major Disaster Declaration for Oklahoma under the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). I will continue to stand beside you all as the we begin the work of rebuilding.

This week, I introduced legislation to increase patient access to innovative drugs such as gene therapies. The Medicaid VBPs for Patients (MVP) Act would link the cost of treatments to patient outcomes, giving rare disease patients access to life-saving care options without leaving them or the health care system financially liable for ineffective treatments. I had an awesome morning speaking to Owasso students from Rejoice Christian School during their visit to our nation's capital this past week. It was an honor to share my story and offer words of encouragement where I could. Thank you to the students for their thoughtful participation in our discussion and their eagerness to learn more about the federal government and how we can best help our communities.

Thank you to business leaders from the Oklahoma Defense Industry for taking the time to meet. I offered an update from the Senate Armed Services Committee as we enter NDAA season, including Chairman Reed's recent visit to the state and his interest in the Joint Counter-sUAS School at Fort Sill. We also discussed tax legislation and the national security package. I am grateful for their commitment to maintaining the excellence of Oklahoma's military installations.

No matter how far we fall, Oklahoma always builds back stronger. Christie and I will continue to pray for peace and healing for the affected communities. I've seen the Oklahoma Standard on display in countless ways this past week and am comforted by neighbors' desire to help neighbors.

Thank you to our dedicated first responders, the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management, Oklahoma Highway Patrol, state emergency management, Lighthorse Muscogee Nation, and local officials for leading early storm recovery efforts.

On Sunday, thousands gathered for the annual Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon to remember and honor the victims of the OKC bombing. Thank you to the runners, first responders, local law enforcement, and volunteers for making it another safe and wonderful year. Team Mullin was glad to participate in the Marathon Relay event and volunteer at the finish line.

I joined Maria Bartiromo on Fox Business earlier this week to discuss recovery efforts across Oklahoma. We also discussed the anti-Israel protests happening on college campuses across the country. Oklahoma would never tolerate these lawless anti-Semitic mobs. Watch here.

This week is National Small Business Week! Our small businesses in Oklahoma are the backbone of the state, and we could not be more grateful for our job creators and the hard work they put in to serving their communities. One of the main reasons I ran for Congress was to fight for business owners like myself and stand up to burdensome federal regulations getting in our way. Over a decade later, that fight continues.
