Yesterday was Election Day in Wisconsin.
Yesterday and today, Wisconsin residents are under the same stay-at-home order as 43 other states and Washington, D.C.
Quite the mixed message.
As of April 8, Wisconsin has 2,440 reported coronavirus cases and 83 deaths. Public health experts are not mincing words: This is not good. People across the country are being asked to stay home as much as possible to avoid the spread of the COVID-19 disease. Requiring them to show up to long lines and cramped schools, gyms, and churches to vote obviously goes against that.
Add your name and declare that all states under stay-at-home order should make their elections accessible solely through vote-by-mail to ensure our families can stay healthy and safe while exercising our right to vote.

Voting is absolutely a right and a right we shouldn’t have to give up under any circumstance but when our health is at risk it is the responsibility of our government to ensure voting can take place without putting our families at risk.
Jen Kates, director of global health and HIV policy at the Kaiser Family Foundation, called the decision to continue on with Election Day “a serious unforced error” and “very unwise.”1 <[link removed]>
Just this week, reported findings have unearthed that Black Americans are dying at alarming rates at the hands of COVID-19. From Michigan to Illinois to North Carolina, Black Americans are disproportionately affected by the crisis. 2 <[link removed]>
How are we supposed to curb this trend and implore that our communities take head to the seriousness of self-quarantine and stay-at-home orders if our own governments won’t give clear and consistent messaging?
