Trump-appointed federal judges just struck down Louisiana’s new, more representative congressional map — a radical decision that threatens to undermine voting rights and representation for Black communities.

But this fight isn’t over. Louisiana voters will be appealing this decision to the Supreme Court. And we will double down on our efforts to ensure fair maps in Louisiana and across the country comply with the Voting Rights Act — and give every voter a voice.

This ruling would undo a major victory for our movement, so we need to fight back — and fair maps champions like you make that possible. Can we count on you to rush a donation to the NDRC right away? [[link removed]]

A.G. Holder put it best in his statement, saying, “The ideological nature of the decision could not be more clear…Since the Voting Rights Act was enacted, anti-democracy forces have sought to minimize its effectiveness. The fight for equal representation is both historic and ongoing. Yesterday’s decision harkens back to a dark time in our nation’s history. Undaunted, we will continue the fight for fairness and equality. ”

Our work inherently comes with setbacks. This one hurts, but we can’t let it stop us from building our movement for fair maps. We’re ready to fight back — and we need you with us.
