Young people have been putting pressure on our lawmakers and leading the charge for gun safety legislation.

ICYMI: Maine’s Gov. Janet Mills just allowed a gun safety bill implementing a 72-hour waiting period for gun purchases to become law this summer.

This law will save lives and it’s important that we take a moment to celebrate this victory! We wouldn’t be here without the advocacy of gun safety champions in Maine. ✊✊✊

It’s times like this we’re reminded of just how powerful our actions and voices are. Even something as quick as tweeting, sharing a social media post, or emailing a representative increases the pressure on our leaders to address gun violence.

We have to harness these moments of hope as we continue to fight for change. And we’ll be honest, we have a lot of work ahead of us.

Both Tennessee and Iowa just adopted laws that allow teachers to carry guns in schools. Giving people more guns is NOT a solution to a gun problem.

This is not a step in the right direction, and it does nothing to make students, families, or teachers feel safer.

Guns have no place in schools – period. Our leaders need to invest in solutions that have been proven to effectively address gun violence (like Maine’s new waiting periods).

We’re not going to back down. Help us continue to advocate by donating anything you can right now.
