Alabama is no exception -- opponents of voting rights across the country feel threatened by increased voter participation.
They're scared that if every eligible voter takes part in our elections, they'll be kicked out of office. That's why they've been working for decades to pick and choose which votes count and disillusion potential voters about whether their vote really matters.
John: Fuel our work to fight back with $25 or more right now to make every vote count and increase voter participation nationwide >> [[link removed]]

AL.com - Secretary of State Wes Allen says Alabama’s new absentee voting law in effect for November election [[link removed]]
There's no way to sugarcoat this, John: Alabama recently made it harder to vote by mail.
Alabama lawmakers recently passed SB1, a bill that opponents of voting rights said would stop so-called "ballot harvesting", which is what they call it when pro-voting organizations assist in the "distribution and collection of absentee ballot applications". In short, Alabama is criminalizing activists who go door to door and help people apply to vote by mail.
It's worth noting that high-priority bills are given the lowest numbers. A bill like this being given number 1 should tell you everything about the importance they put on voter suppression.
Even after pro-voting advocates highlighted how it would keep elderly and disabled voters from getting the help they need with mail-in voting and pointed to the lack of examples of ballot harvesting cases in Alabama as evidence that the law was not needed, Alabama's vote-suppressing Secretary of State is rushing to implement the new law.
Voter suppression like this anywhere hurts us everywhere, John. Defend voting rights in Alabama and across the country with $25 or whatever you can today to fight for the promise of our democracy by making every voice heard in our elections >> [[link removed]]

Integrity First Voter Action Project is dedicated to expanding ballot access and increasing voter participation across the country.
Since the Supreme Court gutted key provisions in the Voting Rights Act, extreme politicians have taken advantage to pass harsh laws that restrict access to the ballot box. These restrictions particularly affect disadvantaged communities and people of color. It’s our goal to bring awareness to these laws wherever they may crop up and organize voters to take action to ensure the right to vote is available to everyone in their states and communities.
