VIDEO OF THE DAY: Trump accidentally humiliated by local Fox anchor over simple question
The disgraced ex-president belched out totally made-up crime "statistics" during a local TV interview and the anchor, obviously not prepped by Trump's handlers ahead of time, violated MAGA cardinal rule #1 in staying on the cult leader's good side: no follow-up questions. When pressed on his assertion that Venezuela has essentially eliminated all domestic crime because President Biden let the country ship all of its criminals to the "good old USA," Trump claimed he read it in the papers or in a federal statement or perhaps got the news straight from Venezuela. In other words, bullshit, bullshit, and bullshit. Not only can't Trump discern fact from fiction, he himself is the country's biggest purveyor of misinformation and disinformation. He concocted this preposterous story out of whole cloth, because a) he is a shameless liar who will say or do anything to win and b) he believes that his supporters are stupid enough to go along with whatever nonsense he feeds them.

Trump trial resumes after bombshell audio captures disgraced ex-president discussing "catch and kill" plot
The disgraced ex-president's ongoing criminal trial over illegal hush money payments made to a porn star keeps delivering the goods, and none of it casts the MAGA cult leader in a particularly appealing light. During witness testimony yesterday, Trump's voice was heard on recorded phone calls complaining about the $130,000 paid to Stormy Daniels to keep their illicit affair quiet ahead of the 2016 election. In one recording, the serially indicted con man can be heard telling one-time fixer Michael Cohen "I hate the fact we did it." Cohen, who himself served time in prison over his role in Trump's "catch and kill" scheme, is expected to testify any day now. Do stay tuned. We're just getting warmed up.

GOP banker drops dark money bomb in must-win Senate race
Tammy Baldwin for Senate: Eric Hovde, McConnell’s hand-picked candidate for Wisconsin’s U.S. Senate seat, spent over $5 MILLION on TV and digital ads so far in his transparent attempt to try and buy himself trailblazing Democratic Senator Tammy Baldwin’s seat. Hovde used that money to unleash a torrent of GOP lies against Baldwin and President Biden, making it clear that he will rubber-stamp the GOP’s draconian anti-abortion agenda and roll back all the accomplishments that Senator Baldwin and President Biden have delivered for the American people. Polling shows that 15% of voters are still undecided — and in the most fiercely contested partisan battleground in the country, every single vote counts more than ever before. Will you chip in to fight the GOP’s lies, re-elect Tammy Baldwin and protect our Senate majority?
President Biden addresses growing student protests, calls for order
President Biden addressed the growing pro-Palestinian human rights and anti-war protests at college campuses across the country that, despite only sporadic instances of vandalism or violence, have been met with heavy handed — and at times extremely violent — police responses. Biden praised both the right to free speech and the rule of law as "fundamental American principles" and urged both be upheld and respected. "We are not an authoritarian nation where we silence people or squash dissent," he said, describing peaceful protest as "in the best tradition" of American democracy. "But neither are we a lawless country. We’re a civil society and order must prevail." While Biden reiterated that he would not be calling in the National Guard to quell the growing protests, the president warned that protesters who break the law would be held accountable. Students and faculty taking part in the protests are calling on universities to divest from, and stop doing business with, Israeli companies and companies they say support the brutal war in Gaza, where 34,000 Palestinians — including 13,000 children — have been killed following the Hamas terror attacks on October 7.

Chuck Schumer to invite Netanyahu to address Congress after calling for his ouster
Just weeks after calling for new elections to rid Israel of Benjamin Netanyahu once and for all, Sen. Chuck Schumer will reportedly join House Speaker Mike Johnson in extending a formal invitation to the Israeli prime minister to speak before a joint session of Congress. Speaking on the Senate floor on March 14, Schumer said that Netanyahu "all too frequently bowed to the demands of extremists" in his government and that it "has become clear to me the Netanyahu coalition no longer fits the needs of Israel after October 7." Schumer, who is Jewish, continued, "I also believe Prime Minister Netanyahu has lost his way by allowing his political survival to take precedence over the best interests of Israel." Netanyahu is currently under indictment for corruption, but the trial has been delayed "because of the war." How convenient.

Michael Cohen's incredible nickname for Trump entered into court record, read aloud by Jake Tapper on CNN
CNN’s Jake Tapper wanted to make sure he accurately reported on the official record of the first-ever criminal trial of a former president, so when an update came through, he was compelled to present it as a matter of "factual record." Tapper proceeded, "Okay, I apologize for this update ahead of time. But, Blanche, Todd Blanche, the Trump attorney, is specifically reading a post that Michael Cohen made on Twitter on April 22nd, and one in which he refers to Donald Trump as 'VonShitzinPants.' That is just a factual record that I'm bringing before you. This is in the court transcript. VonShitzinPants. Blanch also said there are repeated attacks on Trump and his candidacy on Cohen’s podcast and TikTok account. Dana Bash, I know you want to weigh in on VonShitzinPants." And there you have it, folks. Let he who does the nicknaming be immortally nicknamed himself, or something...
RFK Jr.’s flop of a "major announcement" was a pointless slideshow asking Biden to drop out
Anti-vaxxer and very odd man out Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is apparently still running for president as a third-party candidate despite having a zero percent chance of winning. Desperate for any kind of traction in a race he has no business running in, the spoiler-to-be summoned the nation’s media on Wednesday to an office building in downtown Brooklyn to make a "major announcement." What he delivered, instead, was a meandering PowerPoint presentation where he challenged the sitting President of the United States Joe Biden to drop out of the race so he, Kennedy, could take on Trump in a two-horse race. Seriously.

Elon Musk says he'll reinstate Twitter account of Hitler-loving white supremacist
Oh, good. White supremacist and Kanye West sidekick Nick Fuentes is getting his nüTwitter megaphone back. In response to an X user asking that Fuentes be allowed back on the flailing platform, famed car exploder and ketamine enthusiast Elon Musk tweeted, "Very well, he will be reinstated, provided he does not violate the law, and let him be crushed by the comments and Community Notes. It is better to have anti whatever out in the open to be rebutted than grow simmering in the darkness." This will surely end well.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams under pressure to divulge details on "outside agitators" at campus protests
The embattled New York City mayor remains under pressure to divulge how many of the 282 people arrested at campus protests in Manhattan on Tuesday night were non-students after repeatedly claiming that "outside agitators" were responsible for escalations that prompted an overwhelming law enforcement crackdown. Adams, a Democrat and former city police officer, was asked by local reporters on Thursday morning to give a breakdown of the arrest numbers. He repeatedly declined to provide details. "If you have one bad professor educating 30, 40, 50 college students with inappropriate actions, you don’t need 50 bad professors speaking to 50 students." Interesting argument you've got there, Officer Eric. A few bad apples spoiling the barrel, you say? Later on Thursday, the New York police department issued a press release saying that among those arrested at Columbia, "approximately 29% of individuals were not affiliated" with the school. It was not immediately clear how the police were defining "affiliation," and the release did not break down arrest figures in further detail.
