Good morning Democrats,

We were overwhelmed by the enthusiasm and support of our Indian River Democrats who attended Sunday's Election Year Kickoff & Ice Cream Social. Many people signed up to volunteer, took postcards bundles to send to inactive voters, gave donations, and shared creative ideas to elect Democratic candidates across the county. Attendees were also eager to meet Congressional candidate, Dan McDow, who joined us for the entire event!

We hope you were energized seeing so many Democrats mingling, sharing ideas and encouraging each other to get involved. Please make sure you are in our volunteer database by filling out THIS FORM.

WANTED: Candidates & Candidate Supporters
Florida Democrats have filed and qualified to contest all 28 Congressional Districts in 2024 marking the first time Florida Democrats have filled a full slate of congressional candidates since 2018. No Republican is running unopposed!

It’s not too late to take a stand and run for an office. Every part of this state is worth fighting for and we do not want to let Florida Republicans walk into office without being held accountable. If you or someone you know is interested in running for office, please fill out the Run for Office form at https://www.floridadems.org/run-for-office/. You can send any questions about running for office to the Director of Candidates and Campaigns at [email protected]

New Legal Reality of Abortion Access

One month ago, the state Supreme Court broke 40 years of precedent with a decision that Floridians have no right to medical privacy, thus triggering a six-week abortion ban passed by extremist politicians in Florida.

Abortion is now banned in Florida after six weeks, before many people even realize they’re pregnant. The only exceptions include if the pregnant person’s life is in jeopardy, if two physicians verify there is a fatal fetal abnormality, or if a person is seeking care due to rape, incest, or human trafficking, they can access an abortion up to 15 weeks but will be required to provide documentation.

Decisions around pregnancy are personal and unique; they should be left to the patient, their provider, family, faith, and anyone they choose to involve, NOT politicians. There are secure and confidential resources for people seeking information about all their abortion options at ChatWithCharley.org and INeedAnA.com. People in all 50 states are finding information about self-managed abortion using pills by mail at PlanCPills.org.

This November, Floridians have the opportunity to vote Yes on 4, a ballot amendment to limit government interference with abortion. This is our best path forward to restore access to patients and put power back in the hands of the people where it belongs, not with politicians.
