Dear John,

I wanted to make sure you saw the email Erin sent you last week.

Facebook has time and again chosen to cave to anti-abortion claims of ‘censorship,’ putting fears of being called ‘biased’ ahead of ensuring their platform is being used to share credible, fact-based information. [1]

Not only is Facebook letting misinformation spread for fear of conservative critique, they’re also filtering out pro-choice activists like Women on Waves, who reports their filter in support of abortion pill access saying “liberate abortion pills” was not approved by Facebook-owned Instagram. [2]

Read on about Facebook caving to conservative propaganda in Erin’s email below, and make your voice heard by signing our petition.

Subject: Tell Facebook: No Special Rules for Conservatives

Dear John,

Anti-abortion claims of ‘censorship’ by tech companies are B.S. Recently, The Washington Post confirmed that[ the right wing is wielding considerable power inside Facebook. [1] This should terrify you.

I have watched with alarm as Facebook continues to give in to anti-abortion demands to share outright lies and misleading speech or images out of fear of being called ‘biased.’

This kind of cowardice is unacceptable. Sign our petition and tell Facebook to stop caving to anti-abortion, anti-science lies.

Facebook’s refusal to moderate misleading (and sometimes dangerously false) anti-abortion claims allows them to thrive. [2]

At a time when the spread of accurate information about public health is more important than ever, organizations like Facebook need to step up and show they’re dedicated to spreading facts – not sacrificing them to anti-abortion fiction or other anti-science misinformation.[3]

Let’s make it clear to Facebook that supporting misinformation campaigns is the wrong move. Facebook needs to hear from you. Sign our petition now.

Cordially,

Erin Matson, Co-Founder/Co-Director

P.S. There’s nothing ‘unbiased’ about letting anti-abortion activists spread lies unchecked. In fact, this sets a dangerous precedent as the world confronts a deadly pandemic some politicians would prefer to minimize for their own short-term political gain. Sign today and let Facebook know that you won’t stand for anti-science bunk!
