STATE NEWS:

• Civic Health Index invokes call to action for young Hoosiers to vote “Between 2016 and 2020, Indiana witnessed a decline in its voter turnout national rank, dropping from 41st to 46th. This decline is part of a broader trend, as Indiana’s voter participation—once above the national average in the 1970s—has steadily decreased since the early 2000s. Despite a 57% increase from 2016 to 2020, Indiana still lags well behind the national average, prompting a critical examination of the factors contributing to this decline.”

• Sharon Tucker sworn in as new Mayor of the City of Fort Wayne “Tucker is the first Black female mayor in Fort Wayne’s history. Most recently, she served as executive director of Vincent House, Inc., in addition to being the City Councilwoman for Fort Wayne’s 6th District, a position she held from 2020-2024 as the first Black female to hold that position. Tucker was also elected as 1st District Councilwoman on Allen County Council in 2014 and was re-elected to a second term in 2018.”
