I know that you receive a lot of emails from us asking for campaign contributions. Those donations are enormously appreciated and are going directly to work to help us flip our 41st District this November.

What’s also critically important is that we help out our neighbors in their time of need. Recently, on April 14, the building adjacent to the Palm Desert Democratic Party Office was devastated in an overnight fire. Four businesses were completely destroyed: Papa Dan's Pizza, D'Coffee Bouteaque, Miracle Ear, and a Reverse Mortgage Company.

So, on Tuesday, April 23rd, through the leadership of our great volunteers, our campaign led a fundraising effort to help these businesses raise some funds to pay their workers and rebuild. KESQ came to the event to promote it to the community, and you can watch their clip here. [[link removed]]

These businesses were staples of the community.

Ira Mosely opened Papa Dan’s in 1984, a business slated to celebrate its 40th anniversary this August. The pizza restaurant employed more than 45 local residents, some who worked there for more than 30 years. Papa Dan’s also had been voted best pizza in the desert on more than one occasion. Ira plans to re-open at a new location in Palm Desert.

D'Coffee Bouteaque was frequented daily by Rollins campaign and California Democratic Party staff and volunteers alike. Its owners, Mona and Nestor, are incredibly gracious and kind; we were honored to host them at the field office this week. Mona and Nestor also plan to re-open at a new location in Palm Desert.

For those who visited Miracle Ear, they’ve temporarily relocated to Fusion Workplace at 74-710 Hwy 111 in Palm Desert and will return to Plaza de Monterey soon.
