AFGE is growing – not only in size but also in strength. After surpassing 300,000 members at the end of February, months ahead of schedule, we have set a new goal of reaching 325,000 dues-paying members by the end of next year.
But size alone is just one mark of our strength. As explained in the latest edition of the Government Standard, we are also scoring major victories for our members at the worksite – securing new contracts, raising your pay, and safeguarding your jobs from political interference.

Earlier this year, AFGE broke its original goal of reaching 300,000 members in 2024. Having already reached that goal, our union is now moving the goalposts forward and shooting toward adding 25,000 more members by the end of 2025.

While the 2% pay raise proposed for federal employees in next year’s budget clearly isn’t enough, President Biden’s fiscal 2025 budget does include many positive proposals that will help AFGE members and all federal employees.

After almost two decades of lackluster rights, pay, and treatment on the job, our nation’s transportation security officers have made dramatic progress toward a more equitable workplace and wage parity with their fellow federal employees. Thanks to hard work by dedicated union leaders and the support of rank-and-file members, TSA employees are benefiting from increased pay, better bargaining rights, and more workplace allowances.

Throughout his administration, President Biden has been a friend to labor, making good on his promise to be the “most pro-union president in American history.” On March 6, he furthered his pro-labor policies with an executive order creating labor-management forums at federal agencies to promote better working relationships between management and employees.
