John,
Have you seen what’s been happening in the Tarrant County GOP scene? All Texans should have eyes on this!
Texas has open primaries, meaning Democrats can vote in Republican elections. But it gets worse. In Tarrant County, a Democrat RAN FOR and WON a Republican seat!
Chris Rector, winner of a Republican precinct chair position, was immediately deemed ineligible by Tarrant GOP Chair Bo French... and now Chris is suing.
Rector ran for a position in the Texas House as a Democrat in 2022 - he even ran for a seat in Congress as a Democrat as recently as this year! In addition to advocating for Democrat causes and criticizing Texas Republicans, Rector has allegedly admitted to pretending to be a Republican with the goal of merging the GOP with the Democrat Party.
Now, Rector has hired a former Democrat Party official to sue Tarrant County GOP Chairman Bo French - he isn’t even trying to hide the fact that he’s a Democrat at this point!
Luckily, Bo French and the Tarrant County GOP have vowed to defend themselves and the voters they represent in the lawsuit. True Texas Project CEO Julie McCarty was quick to respond. Cases like this show just how eager Democrats are to sabotage our party.
This is hardly the first time TTP has seen something like this happen, and it certainly won't be the last if Republicans don't push for closed primaries.
In fact, without the help of our grassroots supporters to tell voters about issues like this, the Republican Party of Texas would have been lost a long time ago. This is why we keep emphasizing we must build the army.
Make sure to keep an eye out for calls to action in Fran's Friday Messages, where we'll tell you what you can do to help the True Texas army keep Democrats from running in Republican races!
And now, as we head into the local elections, runoff races, and the RPT Convention in May, we’ll need more help than ever to make sure TTP can mobilize our True Texas army and make closed primaries a top issue in the Lone Star State! Will you stand with us and commit to a monthly gift of $99, $46, $25, or just $15 today?
