Throughout my campaign tour, I’ve seen how tired people are of the same old politics. People are fed up with the Conservatives, and uninspired by Labour. They’re tired of being taken for granted and desperate for change.
I met so many inspirational people.
People like Rebecca, a mother from Chelmsford, who is struggling to find a school for her son because he needs SEND support. Rebecca is doing everything she can for her son, and we need to stand by her.
I also met people with the bright ideas and ambition to address the country’s challenges.
People like Mark Rolt, the CEO of ThamesWey, whose regeneration project in Woking will deliver affordable social housing for less well off families.
The impact of Conservative inaction was clear everywhere, from the restaurant owner in Cheltenham, concerned about soaring energy costs, to the GPs in Chippenham, who talked to me about the ongoing NHS crisis.
This is why elections like these really matter and why so many of you have been campaigning so hard to elect hardworking Liberal Democrats who listen to local people and want to make a difference for them.
And it’s why I’m so excited about the General Election, because I am extremely confident that if we all play our part, we can get more Liberal Democrat MPs elected too.
Thank you, John - we can’t do this without your support.
It will take a few days to hear and digest the full results, with many counts not concluding until later tomorrow and throughout the weekend, but keep an eye out for more emails and on social media over the coming days for updates.
Best wishes, |
