Dear John,
We have learned that the Minnesota House Rules Committee will consider the so-called "Equal Rights Amendment" next week. This is a prelude to a vote on the House floor. It is urgent that you make your voice heard NOW in opposition to this amendment.
This alert will help you send a message to your Minnesota House member respectfully sharing your concerns.
By banning discrimination on the basis of "sexual orientation, gender identity or expression," this bill would allow males to enter female-only accommodations such as sports teams and changing facilities. And that's not all: by banning discrimination on the basis of "pregnancy," progressives are attempting to add a right to "end a pregnancy" (procure an abortion) to the Minnesota Constitution.
"all persons...shall not be discriminated against on account of race, color, national origin, ancestry, disability, or sex, including pregnancy, gender, and sexual orientation"
- Proposed ERA Language
You may have noticed something that is NOT in the proposed amendment: religion. If the Legislature wants to protect rights, it should include religious freedom, to make it clear that the Minnesota Constitution gives religious individuals and organizations the same protections as other categories, and protects the ability of those organizations to operate and live consistent with their religious beliefs.
Please take a few moments to let your Minnesota Representative know where you stand and ask them to OPPOSE the ERA.
