John,
Protest is foundational to our democracy and critical for the expression of public will and the pursuit of our freedoms.
Across the nation, peaceful demonstrators face disproportionate and militarized responses. Whether on city streets or at college campuses, the right to assemble peacefully and express dissent against systems and people in power is being undermined by excessive force and punitive measures. This escalation not only threatens our democratic processes but intimidates individuals from exercising their constitutional rights.
We call on Congress to:
At Women’s March, we organize protests. We do this to build power with everyday people who are committed to the struggle. We protest to demonstrate to those "in power" that the true power is people power.
