I’m Sandra, a DACA recipient, Squad Member, and mom from Dallas, TX. Growing up undocumented, my family and I always had to find unconventional ways to navigate systems, connect to resources, and lean into a community of people who had our back. I found another one of those safe community spaces here with The Squad.🧡

It brings me a lot of anxiety to know that my protections from deportation, work permit, and my family’s future hang in the balance as DACA is attacked in the courts. Despite that anxiety, I’m a huge believer in people power and the wins we can claim when we fight together! Check out my video to hear more about why I joined The Squad.

The U.S. immigration system is responsible for generations of family separation and trauma. My father was deported back to Mexico when I was just 19 years old and I had to grow up without my grandparents here. ❤️‍🩹 Now my son is living through the same reality without his grandfather.

This fight is so much bigger than DACA, our communities need permanent protections. It's young people like us from across the country who have joined The Squad and who will build the future I want my son to grow up in!
