Farage is clearly casting his eye around for a suitable constituency as we speak. Winning a seat in Parliament would take him from being a noisy back-seat driver in British politics to someone who will be able to really influence things.
Given the dire state of the Conservative party – and British politics more broadly – it’s not inconceivable that Farage could then weedle his way into Number 10 before 2030.
Exploiting our broken political system, our biased media, and his own vitriolic rhetoric, Farage could become an increasingly relevant player in British politics if he gets into Westminster and stirs up a radicalised Conservative Opposition.
Unless we can persuade a new Labour government to prioritise fixing our broken democracy in their first term, there’s a real risk that Farage will lead his small but vocal minority of nationalist extremist followers to electoral success in 2029. And that’s when we could see our country descend into a terrifying authoritarian state.
Luckily, we can see what’s coming and we have time to act. Here at Open Britain we’ve built an action plan for the next election and beyond to rebuild our broken political system. With your support, we can restore the essential democratic safeguards that protect us from extremists looking to dispense with democracy and pursue their own unpopular agendas.
But we definitely need your support.
The crowdfunder we lauched yesterday will boost our resources and help us ramp up our efforts to restore a properly functioning democracy. If you are in a position to do so, please chip in. Whether your contribution is little or large, it will increase the impact of our work and ensure our chances of succeeding grow.
Than you for your support!
