For far too long, the gun lobby has had an unreasonable influence on all levels of government -- but we can do something about it.
To understand the gun lobby's impact on our political process, look no further than the NRA's spending during the 2016 election. In that cycle alone, the NRA spent $55 million on races across the country.

Here's how it works: Each election, the NRA spends tens of millions of dollars to elect candidates who will block progress on gun safety measures. As a result, Congress is filled with Republicans who got there in large part thanks to funding from the NRA.

Replacing them all won't be easy, Samuel, but we owe it to ourselves to try.

So today I am counting on you to help take on the gun lobby. That means giving Democrats the resources to defeat NRA-funded candidates this year, which is why I am asking:

Contribute $3 now -- before tonight's important FEC deadline -- if you are sick and tired of the gun lobby's influence on our elections.

During my Senate run in 2016, gun policy became such a focus in my race that our campaign dedicated an entire ad to my stance on guns. (It was a pretty good ad, if I do say so myself.)

I'm an Army veteran and fought in Afghanistan, so I am no stranger to handling a firearm. I also support comprehensive background checks so that guns don't fall into the hands of the wrong people.

Expanding background checks is just one of the many legislative solutions to help reduce our country's absurd levels of gun violence. But as long as Congress is filled with Republicans who serve as pawns for the gun lobby, we'll never pass new laws to keep all Americans safe.

This is the year we can change that, and I am counting on you to be a part of it.

Make a $3 contribution right now and together we'll defeat the gun lobby in November. Each contribution made before tonight's deadline will help Democrats take on NRA-funded candidates and win.

For far too long, the gun lobby has had an unreasonable influence on all levels of government. Thank you for stepping up today to help change that.

All my best,

Jason Kander
