Under the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act of 2006, the SMART Office is authorized to provide annual direct funding, targeted training and technical assistance, and technology tools. The AWA Implementation Grant Program supports states, the District of Columbia, principal U.S. territories and federally recognized Indian tribes with implementation and ongoing maintenance of SORNA requirements.
Under the AWA grant program, the SMART Office funds projects to help create or maintain programs to register and track sex offenders and notify the public of their location. The SMART Office will award grants of up to $600,000, with a 36-month period of performance starting October 1, 2024.
AWA Deadlines
Funding applications are submitted to the Office of Justice Programs in a two-step process, with initial information submitted to?Grants.gov?and the full application completed in?JustGrants.
Grants.gov Deadline: May 16, 2024, by 11:59 p.m., Eastern time
JustGrants Deadline: May 30, 2024, by 5:00 p.m., Eastern time
