UK study has local implications for children and transgender treatments

Findings from a revolutionary new report on gender identity services for children contradict current US and local practices.

Dive into this report by Beth Ann Rosica as she breaks down the groundbreaking new U.K. study that is already changing policies and practices in multiple European countries. Among the study's key findings is that puberty blockers and hormones ought not be given to children outside of a clinical trial, as these drugs in children may impact bone density, executive functioning, height, weight, psychological functioning, and metabolic health.

Beth Ann ties these findings back to the local implications – CHOP's Gender and Sexuality Development Clinic, Nemours Children’s Health's Gender Wellness Program, and the boom in PA Medicaid spending on the treatment of gender dysphoria over the past eight years.
