We've got another fun Earth Month activity today!
Editor’s Note: As we all begin to deal with a global pandemic with COVID-19, we wanted to let you know how the Sierra Club is adapting and responding, so we can keep doing the important work of protecting our natural and human environment and fighting for a just, clean energy future.

Hi Supporter,

In these uncertain times, I find solace in community and connection. So I’ve joined Team Sierra to celebrate Earth Month in style…by staying inside. I care about our Earth and all the creatures who live here. Experiencing a pandemic has shown me that when we band together, we make a difference. I’m grateful to be able to support the people and causes working hard to make our world a better, safer place. These days no effort is too small.

As I daydream about a spring morning hike -- wading through a cool stream, I find a new understanding of how my individual actions today pave the way for our collective tomorrow. Small actions add up.

There are times when we can take action, and there are times when we each depend on others to take action for us. Our communities are depending on those who can pitch in. So if you can, join me today. Be a part of Earth Month.

See you on trails…eventually!

Each year, we create a new Earth Day shirt for you. Last year, we began working with Marine Layer to design a T-shirt in honor of the 50th Earth Day. Traditionally, people get the annual shirt when they raise $35 (the shirts cost us $15 each to produce and ship). But this year, you can raise or donate any amount that you can. Plus, you can nominate someone (a healthcare worker, a patient, a loved one) to receive a free shirt, and we hope it brightens their day.

Please note: We have a limited supply of shirts, so it is on a first come, first served basis. It takes 5-10 business days to ship your shirt, so we suggest ordering as soon as you can if you’d like it for Earth Day (4/22). Shipping is only in the United States. Limit 1 shirt per person.

Why We're Raising Money Now

Over the past 4 years, Earth Month has been Team Sierra's biggest annual fundraiser. Thousands of you have cleaned trails, planted trees, or gone for group hikes, raising over $300k for our planet. It’s our favorite campaign of the year. We get to see your smiling faces in photos, your favorite outdoor spaces, and we feel the support of our community.

We’ve been working hard to keep up our annual tradition, but in a new, virtual way. Each year, we count on Earth Month to raise money -- the funds are important to sustain Sierra Club’s mission. Last week, the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe prevailed in its fight against the Dakota Access Pipeline. A judge ruled to strike down federal permits for the project. Happy news like this isn't possible without the support of Sierra Club members like you.

Right now is an especially important time to step up and protect our planet and the people in it. So, we’re asking you to raise or donate what you can, and encourage those who can to join you.

Thanks for your continued support,

Virtual Activities

Today at 1pm PT / 4pm ET, bring your voices, instruments, and dance moves to a Children and Family Sing Along Livestream with Sierra Club member, Joe Reilly. The core of his message is an invitation to heal our relationships with ourselves, with each other, and with the earth. Joe uses his music to bring people together and build community across lines of race, class, gender, ethnicity, religion, age, and nationality.
"I love the earth because we are all children of the earth.
She is the mother of all beings, human and non-human, and she sustains all life. I offer my songs in the hope that we can live in better balance with our Mother Earth and our fellow beings." --Joe Reilly, singer, songwriter, and educator
