Join Us for Caddo Mounds State Historic Site Official Reopening [ [link removed] ]

Following the 2019 destruction of the site's museum by a tornado,?Caddo Mounds State Historic Site [ [link removed] ] will celebrate its official reopening on Saturday, May 18. The ribbon-cutting ceremony commences at 11:30 a.m. with speakers reflecting on the importance of restoring the site and the resiliency of the Caddo Nation. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore the new $2.5 million visitor center and reconstructed grass house and participate in a variety of outdoor activities.?

Celebrate Bluff SchuetzenFest in La Grange [ [link removed] ]

On Saturday, May 19, celebrate the history of the Bluff Schuetzenverein, a German marksmanship and social organization which once made its home on the grounds of Kreische Brewery State Historic Site [ [link removed] ]. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the _Bluff Scheutzenverein_ [ [link removed] ] hosted dances, concerts, picnics, and shooting competitions which welcomed people from across Texas. Sites staff and volunteers will commemorate these traditions with a day featuring entertainment, community booths, family activities, living history demonstrations, special tours, food and drink, and more.?
