[link removed] [[link removed]] I remember that sinking feeling, two years ago today, when the news leaked that the Supreme Court was going to overturn Roe v. Wade. I bet you remember it, too.

Frankly, the damage to women and families across our country since then has been horrific. Forty percent of women in America now live under severe abortion restrictions or an outright ban. Just yesterday, a six-week abortion ban went into effect in Florida. In Alabama, the state court even banned IVF — and most of my GOP colleagues in Congress have come out in support of banning it nationally.

Here in Kansas, we overwhelmingly blocked an attempted abortion ban at the ballot box. And making our voice heard at the ballot box is how we’ll stand up for our rights again this November.

If anti-choice extremists are setting the agenda next year, we know what to expect: severe restrictions on abortion at the federal level. Attempts to block access to abortion medication. Calls to prosecute the doctors who perform abortions and the women who seek them out.

But if we retake the House, we can do even more than fight back against that extreme agenda — we can get to work reinstating the fundamental rights that the Supreme Court took away. We can pass federal legislation enshrining Roe v. Wade protections into law, so that no matter what state you live in, your medical decisions are yours alone.

Whether we retake the House or not is going to come down to just a handful of competitive House districts and KS-03 is at the top of the list. I know, and my opponents know it, too, which means this is going to be one tough fight. Can I count on you to pitch in today and help us win this fight to reinstate abortion rights?

Right now, we’re only a few seats shy of enough votes in Congress to pass federal legislation guaranteeing the right to choose. We’ve got a real chance at getting there in this next election — but it starts with making sure here in this incredibly competitive swing district, we have the resources to fight back against the two anti-choice super PACs who are targeting us for defeat.

Thank you for being with me in this fight — and for everything you’re doing to fight for a future in which no politician gets to decide what women do, or don’t do, with our own bodies.

Sincerely,

Sharice Davids
