Donate to strengthen the movement for water justice in Flint and beyond!

Friend,
Ten years. One full decade. More than 3,650 days.
That’s how long the people in my hometown of Flint, Michigan have gone without reliable access to safe, clean water coming out of their taps. For ten years, we’ve been dealing with the chronic health effects of lead and bacteria in our water and the financial burden of paying for poisoned water we can’t even drink.
Flint Rising, the organization I lead, grew out of this water crisis. Since we began, we have built a movement demanding that the Michigan Legislature replace all damaged water infrastructure, reimburse all water bills back to April of 2014, and fund long-term health and education services for people in Flint.
And last week, to mark the anniversary of the day the water crisis began, we came together in community to honor those who have lost their lives, build awareness about the resources available to residents, and march to City Hall. And allies like Corporate Accountability, the Water Collaborative of Greater New Orleans, and Pittsburgh United held a Day of Action with rallies and community events in solidarity with the people of Flint. Throughout the day and across the country, we built pressure on Veolia to take accountability for its role in the water crisis and demanded Michigan’s Attorney General stand up for justice in Flint.
Ten years into this crisis, we will not be forgotten. And that’s where you come in because we can’t continue pushing for justice without a broad base of support and the resources needed to take on powerful individuals and corporate interests. And that’s why I’m asking you to donate today. Half of your gift will go towards powering my team’s fight for justice in Flint, and the other half will power Corporate Accountability’s global campaign challenging corporate control of water in the United States and around the world.
It’s been 10 years since Flint, MI had safe water. Donate to support the human right to water in Flint and beyond!

Ten years ago, Flint’s water supply was switched to the Flint River, without the proper corrosion control mechanisms. The decision was made by an unelected official who was appointed by the state through a racist ’emergency manager’ law. It didn’t take long for us to see that something was terribly wrong.
Over the last several years, Flint Rising has partnered with Corporate Accountability to keep the Flint water crisis in the national consciousness. We’ve traveled around the globe, from Washington D.C. to Los Angeles to Lagos, Nigeria, to share our stories and demand clean, and affordable water for all. And we’ve strengthened a powerful movement for water justice in Flint and beyond.
That’s why I’m asking you to make a gift to support our joint work for water justice today. When you give right now, half of your gift will go to supporting Flint Rising in our grassroots campaign for justice in Flint, and the other half will go to Corporate Accountability to support their global campaign for the human right to water.

Corporate Accountability stops transnational corporations from devastating democracy, trampling human rights, and destroying our planet. We are building a world rooted in justice where corporations answer to people, not the other way around -- a world where every person has access to clean water, healthy food, a safe place to live, and the opportunity to reach their full human potential.
