Dear Reader,

A three-time Super Bowl champion, 2019 scoring leader, and recordholder for the longest field goal in Super Bowl history, Butker is one of the best kickers in the National Football League. He’s also a devout Catholic who is quite outspoken about his faith.

It’s one thing to be outspoken, and another to be at the same time outspoken, thoughtful, intelligent, and mature. It was my distinct pleasure to sit down with Butker in July to discuss “Magnanimity in a Polarized World” in front of a standing-room-only crowd of five hundred FIRST THINGS readers.

After the event, Butker had this to say about FIRST THINGS:

We need organizations like FIRST THINGS in the culture to showcase the good, the true, and the beautiful and to fight against the errors of our society . . . It gives me great confidence in the future of our society when I see so many men and women who aren’t afraid to step into the arena and make their voices heard.

Thank you, Harrison, for these kind words. And thank you, dear readers, for being men and women who aren’t afraid to step into the arena and make your voices heard.

Make your voice heard with FIRST THINGS by making a gift today.
