It’s an exciting time for the labor movement. Last year brought us huge wins for workers through strikes by the WGA, SAG-AFTRA, UAW, and the Teamsters’ near-strike that scored a massive victory for UPS workers.

But if the bosses thought they were done in 2023, they were wrong. Immediately after winning almost every single concession in their stand-up strike against the Big Three automakers, UAW union president Shawn Fain announced that they were actively targeting non-unionized factories next.

And they started where the fight is the hardest: The South

For years, manufacturers of all types have flocked to the South on the promise of “the Alabama discount” (read: rock bottom wages). In a legislative environment so hostile to the basic dignity of working people, few people believed a union had any chance.

But just last week, workers at a Tennessee Volkswagen plant voted OVERWHELMINGLY to unionize. And they had this to say:

"The domino has fallen, we're the gateway to the South — Mercedes, you're next."

<[link removed]>I am filled with pride and hope at the recent victories won by working people across the nation – victories that remind us how much power we hold when we stand together.

But there is much more to be done.

Right now in America, the bosses have two parties – workers need one of our own. As your president, I will work side-by-side with you for justice and dignity for working people as we fight to guarantee:

- Economic Security: Ensuring economic stability through a $25 minimum wage, a livable income above the poverty level, and universal rent control for affordable housing.

- Power to the Workers: Supporting worker-owned cooperatives, expanding union rights to gig workers, and mandating worker representation on corporate boards.

- Justice in the Workplace: Closing wage gaps, ending discrimination, creating job opportunities, and protecting workers from exploitation and wage theft.

- Union Rights and Protections: Repealing anti-union laws, removing hiring obstacles, and ensuring fair compensation by closing wage loopholes.

- Worker Benefits and Protections: Establishing a National Solidarity Fund, mandating paid leave, ending "at-will" employment, and protecting federal employees' union rights and the right to strike.

These are just a few of the steps we will take to build a fairer and more just economy that works for working people.

Just as unions depend on solidarity, so does our movement. I need your support to make this vision a reality. Together, let's build a world where every worker is valued, respected, and free to live a life of dignity. <[link removed]>

In solidarity and gratitude,

Jill
