Dear Neighbor, I hope you are well! I wanted to take this opportunity to update you on several happenings in the district as well as Harrisburg.

Harrisburg Update

In Session this week the House passed H.B. 416 by Rep. Lindsay Powell, which would prohibit remote stalking by adding remote stalking - stalking using location tracking technology - to the list of stalking offenses. We passed H.B. 166 by Rep. Mandy Steele, which would ban the use of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons chemicals in asphalt sealants in our state. These chemicals are carcinogenic and can cause blood and liver disease and have no place in Pennsylvania. 

We passed H.B. 1463 by Reps. Jessica Benham Dan Miller, which would recognize 911 dispatchers as first responders in Pennsylvania law so that our dispatchers receive the same allowances as our other first responders. 

We also passed H.B. 847 by Rep. Scott Conklin to help counties provide quicker election returns by legalizing the pre-canvassing of mail-in ballots. 

School Safety Grants Awarded

Last week the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency announced $47 million in school safety and mental health supports will be distributed to school districts throughout Pennsylvania with many Montgomery County schools receiving support. 

It's imperative that students, teachers, and staff feel secure in our schools. Feeling safe is not just a privilege but a fundamental necessity for effective teaching and learning. The public school districts in my legislative House district all received grants. 

Methacton School District will receive $200,009.

Norristown Area School District will receive $697,998.

Perkiomen Valley School District will receive $206, 961.

Spring-Ford Area School District will receive $242,295.

Senior Fair 

Last week my office held a successful Senior Fair! I had a great time speaking with the vendors and with the attendees!

If you were not able to attend or missed a vendor, please call my office at (484) 200-8263 and we'll help connect you with the services you need!

Mobile Office Hours

I'm happy to announce that my office will be holding mobile office hours to bring the office closer to you!

On the first Wednesday of every month, a staff member will be at the Upper Providence Township Office on 1268 Black Rock Road, Phoenixville, PA 19460. You can stop by from 10 a.m. - noon and receive services like applying or renewing your SEPTA pass, find solutions to PennDOT concerns and much more.

On the third Wednesday of every month, a staff member will be at the West Norriton Township Office on 1630 W Marshall Street, West Norriton, PA 19403 also from 10 a.m. - noon. 

During these mobile hours you will still be able to call and visit my district office in Collegeville to receive assistance with state-related issues. 

May Awarenesses

In May we celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, acknowledging the cultural, historic, and innovative impacts that Asian Americans, native Hawaiians, and pacific islanders have had on our country.

This month is also Mental Health Awareness Month to acknowledge the millions of Americans living with mental health conditions and continue our efforts to destigmatize and support those who need mental health supports.​​​​​​​

May is also Military Appreciation Month, to thank our servicemembers in the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, Coast Guard, and National Guard for their service to the people of this country. 

Lastly, today is International Worker's Day or May Day. From construction workers to nurses, teachers, librarians, baristas, grocers, farmers, and auto workers, Pennsylvania thanks you. Pennsylvania House Democrats continue to work towards fair pay and safe working conditions for all PA laborers.  Here are just some of the bills we're working on passing in the House and Senate:

H.B. 1500 by Rep. Jason Dawkins increases the minimum wage.

S.B. 247 by Sen. Maria Collett sets nurse & patient safety standards. 

H.B. 1379 by Rep. Steve Malagari provides COLA to municipal police officers and firefighters.

H.B. 142 by Rep. Regina Young creates a PA teacher loan forgiveness program.

There's a lot we can do to support our workers here in our Commonwealth and I'm committed to getting it done.
